Statement
Players First Basketball is committed to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of every child and young person who trains, plays or takes part in our programs.
Our commitment
We have zero tolerance for child abuse and harm. Every child has the right to feel safe, to be heard and to be treated with respect. We follow the Victorian Child Safe Standards across our academy, school programs, camps, private training and facility.
What we do
- All coaches, staff and volunteers hold a current Working with Children Check.
- We recruit, train and supervise our people with child safety in mind.
- We have a code of conduct that sets clear standards for how adults behave with children.
- We listen to children and young people, and involve them in decisions that affect them.
- We work with families and carers, and keep them informed.
- We take every concern seriously and act on it promptly.
Inclusion and cultural safety
We welcome every child. We respect and celebrate the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disability, and children who identify as LGBTIQ+.
Raising a concern
If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child in our programs, please tell us straight away at info@pfbasketball.com. Every report is handled confidentially.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000. You can also contact Victoria Police or Child Protection directly.
